about gun control laws

Chicago has banned hand guns since 1982 in Chicago proper. We don't need new laws, we need to enforce the ones already on the books. I wish this state would come up with an open carry policy for law abiding citizens who make the effort to get their FOID cards. Why should we be harassed with threats of new laws when the old ones arn't enforced to begin with. I have owned gunes for twenty years and they never managed to get behind a wheel of a vehicle and drive down the street, or managed to get on a bus snd shoot innocent people. WE NEED TO STOP AND THINK ABOUT WHAT WE HAVE NOT HOW MANY MORE USLESS LAWS WE CAN PUT ON THE LAW BOOKS. THANK YOU ROBR

  • Guys what we're forgetting here is that there is no need for the law abitting citizen to protect themselves; ask any politician and they'll tell you "there is no crime", I mean after all don't we ALL go around with our own body guards at tax payer expence? If I had several heavily armed people around me 24-7 I could claim there is no crime either! But since it's a proven fact that the police don't arrive for at least 5-15 min. AFTER a crime is reported then the powers that be need to get thier heads out of the sand and realize that in states that have concealed carry laws the violent crime rate is LOWER!! I personally have carried a weapon for over 23 years on my job and have no problem with LAW ABBITING citizens carrying fire arms LEAGALLY for thier protection, but the people in charge like things the way they are, so they call it "job security" but I gaurentee that the violent crimes would go down if pookie and ray ray had to think twice before acosting someone.
I am still waiting for an answer to my question; Can ANYONE tell me the last time a LAW ABITTING citizen did a drive by shooting, robbed a bank, store, person, ect. or any other FORCABLE FELONY! I'm still waiting for an answer and as of yet no one has been able to give me one, but I do get alot of b.s. answers.

  • I am a gun owner. The person who's job it is to steal or rob someone is not going to go the a gun store to find a gun or even buy one. He or she is going to brake in to a house or a gun store and steal a gun. A new law will not stop him but if he picks my house he will meet Saint Peter sooner then later.

  • agree we deserve to have 'carry permit for honest, felony free citizens here. It would put some fear in the 'bangers and armed thugs out there who know right now that we are unresponsive prey. And since we have FOID cards, go to the range to practice and are probably very accurate; well our self defense response to them would probably be pretty on target compared to their street mentality, bullet spraying, holding at head height method of shooting. Scratch one less criminal act if we are defending ourselves with open or concealed carry laws. Isn't it about time to rid the place of them, AND save the courts some time and money?
